Non-small cell lung cancer stages range from I to IV. In general, the lower numbers (Stages I and II) suggest that the tumor is smaller and has not spread far. In comparison, the higher numbers (Stages III and IV) suggest that the tumor is larger or has metastasized. Treatment options for early stages may include surgery to remove the cancer entirely, while later-stage cancers may also be treated with medications (chemotherapy) or radiation.
